Five places we frequent

Since we already gave you 5 places to visit in Mexico City, here are the 5 non-work related places we visit every week along with the things we buy there or do:

  • Costco: We go there to buy milk (imported from the US), diapers, chicken, and beef. Nathan likes to sample the cheese they’re always giving out.
  • Wal-Mart: Now that they opened the new one, it’s become our favorite place to get most of our groceries, vegetables, and other things.
  • Sam’s Club: We love going here for diapers and mini chocolate donuts (they’re delicious).
  • Fun Burger and Coffee: This place is a great place for Nathan to play. We’ll pretty much buy anything for an excuse for Nathan to play on their playground. We usually get Krispy Kremes in this plaza, and then we take Nathan to the playground.
  • Los Arcos: This is our favorite taqueria (taco restaurant). Janell always orders alambre con queso, while I like tacos al pastor, and we order a taco de bistec for Nathan.

Honorable Mention: Comercial Mexicana, Plaza Satelite, Torbert house, Home Depot, McDonalds, Starbucks

Krispy Kreme and playgrounds

I don’t know if it was because I was tired of being in the house all day, needed sugar, or just wanted to put off preparing myself for my sermon tomorrow (like I’m doing now), but I took Janell and Nathan to the Krispy Kreme tonight.

It turns out that next to the donut shop there’s a new place called Fun Burgers and Coffee (for real, in English). It’s basically an indoor kids’ playground that sells coffee, burgers, and other food. Nathan absolutely loved it. He had a good time playing in the ball pit and walking all over the place while investigating the other kids who were there. Anyway, I’m sure it’s a place we will be visiting a lot in the future (not for the coffee…yuck…they have bad coffee!)

Maybe now, he’ll sleep all night so we’ll all be rested in the morning (I’m preaching at our friends’ church).

This day in History

weddingday

Nine years ago today, we got married. It’s been the most amazing 9 years of my life. Janell, I love you. Happy anniversary. Weren’t we cute?

Mission Accomplished

We found some shoes for Nathan today! They are made of stretchy material, so they fit better and are easier to get on him. We went to the Bazaar, a flea-market sort of place, and bought them. They were only 120 pesos, too! That’s about 11 US dollars. He loves them. It was much easier today than the other day. We’ll put up a pic soon.

Shoe shopping

FeetWhere do you go to buy shoes? Where do you go to buy your kid some shoes? We’ve never had to answer that second question before, but now that Nathan is walking more, we need to buy him some shoes.

But, where should we go to buy them? The majority of people would think that baby shoes are cheap, right? Well, not necessarily. We went over to Punta Norte, an outlet mall (owned by a US company…they have them all over the world), to look for baby shoes today.

But we encountered two problems…

Memory Lane

I found some old family photos the other day and thought I’d post them here (As always, click the photo to see it bigger). So, take a trip with me down Memory Lane…
