Today I taught class at the seminary. I think it went well. The students have no reason to say that they didn’t know how to do the project nor that they didn’t know it was due. We went over it a lot today.
After seminary classes, I went to play tennis with Rob. That makes it two whole weeks in a row! We’re on a roll, now. Except they increased the price. Now, it’s 90 pesos per hour (like 9 bucks). Ouch! At least I won this time.
We went to the grocery store this afternoon. Then we came home and ate a new dish for dinner. It was very good, as usual. Then, we watched 4 episodes of 24 on DVD. It’s crazy addicting. I can’t believe that’s what we did on a Friday night. Oh well.
Tomorrow, for Joel’s birthday, we are all going to Xochimilco. It’s a place where you get in boats and ride around canals and floating gardens and markets and stuff. I’ll give you a complete report tomorrow. I’ve been wanting to go for a long time, but we haven’t been able to go. There are supposed to be around 28 of us going tomorrow, so it should be fun. I know I’ll take lots of pictures and video of it.
Okay, so Tony tagged me. According to his tag, I’m supposed to think of 5 weird things about me and post them here.
- I make videos of myself and put them on the internet. (although this is becoming more and more popular.)
- I like watching Gilmore Girls.
- I actually like my job.
- I am a bit of a perfectionist.
- I participate in weird internet games like this tagging thing.
Supposedly, I’m supposed to tag other people now. I’m not even sure that people read this blog, so I’m not going to tag anyone by name. If you’re one of the fortunate people who read this, then you’re tagged.
It was an incredibly weird news day in Mexico. Here are two interesting stories. First of all, this weekend, a bull tried to get the upper hand in a bullfight as he jumped into the stands, injuring some of the spectators. For me, this is one reason not to pay for the expensive ring side seats at the bullfight.
Then, earlier today, an Austrian stuntman parachuted off of one of the skyscrapers in downtown Mexico City. I think it’s funny that he ran from the police after the stunt. I wish I would have known about it. I could have video taped it.
There’s a lot happening in Mexico City! What fun!
I just got back from a tennis game with Rob. We plunked down our 64 pesos ($6 USD) and played some awful tennis for an hour. He killed me at it though. Last time we played (it’s sort of a once a year thing), we tied. Then Christmas came, I gained lots of weight, and now I’m slow and uncoordinated. What a shame, too. Oh well, maybe we’ll play again sometime this year.
This has been a week of meetings. On Tuesday, we met with Tim and Annette Gulick, our friends and colleagues who built and maintain the site paralideres.org. We had a great time talking with them about the future of youth ministry and youth ministry education in Latin America. It was a real encouragement to meet with them.
Last night, I met with Hector Santos, the youth pastor at First Baptist Church Satelite. He was very excited about the possibility of working together, and I look forward to seeing what is going to happen in the future in this relationship.
Tonight, I am meeting with a group of youth leaders to plan a national youth ministry workshop and to converse about youth ministry. I’m taking one of my seminary students with me to this meeting, and I’m looking forward to it.
Oh, and just for fun, check out this hilarious picture of Nathan.

We’re just sitting at Janell’s mom’s house waiting for 2006 to get here. We just shot off some fireworks, and now we’re fixing some snacks. Hope you all have a Happy New Year. We hope that 2006 is great. Thanks for your support and prayers during 2005. God has done a lot of cool things this year, and we look forward to seeing how He works in the coming year.
