Our family is involved in many things. Training youth workers for local churches involves teaching youth ministry courses at the Mexican Baptist Theological Seminary, overseeing ministries in other countries, speaking at youth events, and other important things.
With all of the work that needs to be done, it’s easy for me to get caught up in being busy at “the office” and forget about the most important ministry that takes place in our family: the ministry of discipling and raising our kids.

We celebrated Mexican Independence Day with the Seminary Director’s church. It was a fun night full of Mexican history (we failed miserably at the trivia questions…but so did everyone else), delicious food, music, games, and fun.
Our kids dressed up for the occasion, and we had a great time. You can check out our pictures on Flickr or in the slideshow below.

Yesterday was a busy day! August 27, 2003, we packed up our 7 suitcases and moved to Mexico to begin training youth workers in Latin America. 8 Years have passed so fast! A lot has happened since then–our family has grown and our ministry has seen some great things happen. We also have a lot more stuff.
Yesterday was also the end of the first certificate course of the year. We had the students at the house for lunch. It was also the opening service for the Seminary’s school year. We are looking forward to classes being in session again. It’s been a while since Dennis has taught, and he’s ready to get back into the classroom.
Here’s a quick picture from the service yesterday. The pastor of First Baptist Church of Satelite preached about stepping out of your comfort zone and making history. That is exactly what God called us to do 8 years ago, and it is what He keeps calling us to do today.
Shiloh has started to take a few steps. She especially likes to get Benjamin and jump on him. Check the quick video.
Our first day of homeschool started off a little later than we had thought. The kids all slept in, so that means the parents did, too. After breakfast we were ready to start school.
Nathan did great, except for a few little things. The “Handwriting without tears” book didn’t come with a no tear guarantee. It was the most difficult time of the day. Not because Nathan doesn’t know how to write, but because the paper that came with the book was different than the kind of paper he had used in Kindergarten. He was upset, but he overcame it and finished the work.

Yesterday Ben turned 3 years old. Hard to believe he’s already three. Here are a few videos of our family celebration.
