When we moved into our new house, Nathan was so excited because he had a friend to play with at the Seminary. But when we returned to Mexico this past summer, we found out that his friend’s family was moving. So we prayed (and asked some of our friends to pray) that God would send him some friends to play with at the Seminary.

I recently started reading the “Essential Jesus“, a Bible reading plan I found at Youversion.com.
One of the first readings is Colossians 1:15-20. I had read this passage many times before, but for some reason, I must have spent more time meditating on it or something, because I haven’t been able to stop thinking about these characteristics of Jesus and how He is supreme over everything.

Terry Linhart, professor of youth ministry at Bethel College in Indiana, asked me to review his book Global Youth Ministry (affiliate link) on Amazon.
I had been reading the book along with the rest of the Youth Ministry International trainers all over the world, so it was pretty easy to write the review for him.

No. I’m not leaving the ministry. No. We’re not leaving Mexico. “Leaving the ministry” was simply the title of a sermon I heard last week during chapel at the Seminary.
One of the Missions professors preached about the process of how those in ministry end up dropping out of ministry. He said that the process involves Disappointment, Deception, and Disillusion.
It was a good sermon, and I think it was useful for us.

Earlier this week Janell posted about these lighting fixtures on Savingyoudinero.com, and I couldn’t stop thinking about how insane it is that these old plastic containers have been re-purposed into art. The insane thing is that they are being sold for more than $100 each.
I’m not sure who in their right mind would pay $107 for an old plastic jug that is now a lamp, but the thing that has captured my attention is how if someone has found a way to take something ordinary and turn it into what, apparently, somebody thinks is extraordinary (and is willing to pay $107 for it).
