Going to Mexico: Well, I leave early tomorrow morning for a week long trip to Mexico. There are many reasons for this trip, including an opportunity to network with many different people. I’ll also be bringing MOST of our papers for our visas. Unfortunately, we still don’t have Janell’s birth certificate with an apostille from the state of New York. We’ll have to send that later. I’ll also have a great opportunity to spend some time with Randy Smith, the President of YMI. Please pray for this trip as it is an important step in the development of youth ministry training in Mexico City. Janell will still be here in Florida, finishing out her time working at Nielsen. Pray for her this week, too!

Baseball Game

Baseball game: We had the chance to go to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays game against Texas last night. The Rays got killed 12-6. We’re getting sort of used to that by now, but we still had a good time with our good friends Mary and Richard.

Teammates

Teammates: Check out the new part of this site! We’ve put up a part for our teammates Karen and Chris Maddox. They’ll be sharing about their journey to Mexico on the site, too. They’re on their way to CIT soon, so pray for them as they get ready for some changes!

seminary logo CYM brochure: I have officially finished the brochure for the Center for Youth Ministry in Mexico City. With the help of many Spanish speaking friends, the Spanish version has been put together and will be on its way to the printer soon. If you want to download one, feel free to do so. I have a Spanish version and an English version. Each one requires Adobe Acrobat Reader to view them.

I’ve been working for a while on a brochure for the Center for Youth Ministry at the Baptist Seminary in Mexico City (Will be available online soon). I’m on my way down to Mexico City for the 100th anniversary of the Mexican Baptist Convention. Randy Smith, the president of YMI, and I will be heading down there next Monday to be a part of the celebration. We’re also going to be there to promote the youth ministry program that will begin in September 2004. The program consists of 34 hours of youth ministry classroom training and 16 hours of practical work where students will be trained in local churches. This program will help produce qualified, trained youth workers for local churches throughout Mexico. The trip to Mexico will finish on Monday, July 28.

I’ll also be taking the papers for our visas with me. Please pray that there will be enough time after all of the papers get in to process our visas. We are hoping to have them by the time we leave on August 27.

The Countdown is on! Somebody asked us at church yesterday if we had started the countdown to when we’re leaving. We sure have! Now you can count down with us on the website. It’s such an exciting time in our lives! Thanks for being a part of it.
