Crazy things have been happening here lately. Saturday was the seminary graduation. We arrived early (our first mistake), which meant that the church service was still going on and there were no parking spots. So, we decided to park our car on the road with the hundreds of other people (our second mistake). The graduation went fine, and we came back to our car to find that someone had stolen our side view mirrors. So, today we are paying about $90 to fix our mirrors. Oh the joys!
Sunday we were going to a church to spend the day there. We only had a hand drawn map to guide us there. There was a roadblock, so we had to turn off the main road we usually use. We then thought we took a wrong turn. Sitting at a red light, we decided to turn off onto a side road to look at our big map and figure out what we needed to do. After looking down for a few minutes, we looked up and noticed we were sitting right in front of the church we were going to. To find a place that easy in Mexico City is definitely a miracle. And we did it without mirrors!
Amigos: Mary and Richard Kalil spent the week with us this past week. It was great to have them here. They are our friends from Florida, for those of you who don’t know them. We went to the pyramids, downtown, and the zoo. They got to visit the seminary and meet a lot of friends that we have made here in Mexico. We had a wonderful time, and now we have to go back to “real” work.
Conference: The conference is over at Little Flock. We are still in Kentucky, but we leave tomorrow. We had a great time of fellowship with the people here, but are looking forward to going back to Mexico City tomorrow. We have a lot of work to do, and we are refreshed and ready to work hard to prepare the youth ministry program in the seminary. The leadership of YMI have helped us a lot this week, and we are excited to see all that God is going to do in youth ministry in Mexico in the next few weeks! Please pray for us as we travel back tomorrow. Thanks.
Global Impact: We are in Kentucky, participating in the Global Impact Conference at Little Flock Baptist Church. We are staying with a great family and really being encouraged by the congregation. Today we spoke at the Christian school here to the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 7th grade students. Then we drove over to Boyce College and spoke in a youth ministry class there and had lunch with some of the YMI leadership. We discussed the Center for Youth Ministry in Mexico City, talking about curriculum for the formal branch that will take begin at the seminary in August. Tonight, we spoke at the Linear worship service at the church. We have met a lot of cool people today and have been encouraged. Hopefully, too, we have encouraged some people ourselves. Tomorrow is another busy day.
Tour the house: As you know, we have moved to Mexico City. We are living in a nice house about 10 minutes from the seminary. We want to give you the grand tour, so, as promised, we’ve posted some pictures on the website. There are 20 pictures with descriptions. Just click here to open the gallery. We’ll try to take some pictures while we are in Kentucky next week, too.
Missions conference: Next week we will be in Kentucky for a missions conference. Please start praying that we can share the vision God has given us with this church. Thanks.
