We were scheduled to return to Mexico on Wednesday. We were going to go to Orlando tomorrow and then leave early Wednesday morning, but that has changed. Due to the projected path of Hurricane Dean, we have decided it would be best to change our flight to Friday instead. This means less (hopefully) rain and wind in the sky. Unfortunately, it probably means more traffic on the ground (in Mexico). Anyway, we’re packed and ready to go, but now we’re waiting until Friday.
We’ve only got a few weeks left until we go back to Mexico. That means, we’re trying to see people we haven’t seen yet and speak at a few last churches, all while spending time with our family. We also have to buy some of the things we can’t get in Mexico. It should be an interesting few weeks.
So, it looks like we’ve only been posting links lately. That’s because we’ve been busy with all sorts of stuff. Last Sunday, we spoke at the church where I spent most of the first 7 years of my life. Many of the people who were there remembered me as a five year old, so it was a great experience to preach there.
Then, on Friday, we had a Mexican fiesta at our home church and got to see a lot of old and new friends.
Tonight, we went to the first church I worked at as a full time youth pastor. In all of these places, we had a great opportunity to share what God is doing in Mexico. It has left us very drained, but we know it has been a good week.
Tuesday, we are going to Las Vegas to spend some time with my sister as well as to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. We will be on our way to California for our a meeting with our mission organization. We’ll try to post pictures and everything while we’re there. I guess it just depends on internet access.
Wow. I’ve been enjoying being home so much that I haven’t written in here in a while. We have been busy doing things, but basically life has been normal. Since I last updated, I:
Today was a good, long day. The group arrived without any problems, except that they arrived to the place I wasn’t waiting for them. You see, in the Mexico City airport, most international arrivals from the US come through a specific gate. The board says they will arrive through that gate. Of course, the group didn’t come through that way; they came through a different way. Also, Brandon lost his guitar. We’ve gotta work on getting that back tomorrow.
The good news is they arrived. Then we went to eat. At the restaurant, we watched the US beat Mexico in the Gold Cup final. That was great. After resting, we went to play soccer and basketball at the courts around town. It was a lot of fun. We met some people. We got to hang out with them and really get some good relationships started (hopefully).
Then we went to Los Arcos to eat tacos. At the table, Brandon got to talk to some of the soccer players who went with us to eat. It was a great conversation. It’s a conversation that I hope will get to continue as the week goes on. Anyway, I’m tired. Good night.
