Here’s a picture set from the last two weeks. I got in last night after a long trip. Yesterday, I spent 10 hours in an airport, and I spent 2 hours in airplanes. But, finally, I’m home.
I’m planning on writing more later, but I wanted to say that everything went really well while I was out. I had a great time of ministry and spending time with students. I taught two classes in two weeks, and we also talked a lot about what’s going on and the future of ministry in Latin America.
I’m happy to be back with my family. I missed them a lot. I’ll be home again for about a week until I go to Mexico. Then, I’ll be in Kentucky for 10 days. Until I write more, check out the pictures.
We’ll be in Florida for a while in the next few months, and we’d love to speak at churches to share what is happening in Latin America. If you want us to share with your small group, congregation, youth group, or anyone else who might be interested, just contact us by email or leave a comment here.

Happy Thanksgiving. We invited all of my youth ministry students over for a traditional turkey dinner. There were more than 20 of us here eating, and we had a great time. For many of them, it was the first time they had a traditional Thanksgiving, and they learned quickly the effects of gorging yourself on turkey and stuffing.
My friend Glenn tagged me to share five things I’m thankful for. So here it goes.
- My family: Janell and Nathan are very important to me. I am so thankful for them. They make me smile and help me get through the many trials that come and go.
- Ministry: I believe that the ministry I have is a gift from God. I am thankful for it and for the students I have the opportunity to influence. I see the ministry as something special that I don’t deserve, and I know that what is happening through this ministry is by grace alone.
- People who have influenced my life: There are too many to name, but many people have influenced me throughout my lifetime. They have made me what I am today. I appreciate them and am very thankful for them.
- Supporters: Many people sacrifice time and money to help support my family. Without them, it would be very difficult to live. I am thankful for those people.
- NFL Sunday Ticket: It sounds funny, but it helps keep me sane. I get a slice of “home” every week, and it’s cheap here. I can watch football and listen to English commentators and commercials. Come on, you didn’t think I’d be serious the whole time, did you?

Today is the coldest day it has been in a long time here. It has been raining all night and into the day today, causing it to be downright cold.
The National Meteorological Service says that it will only get to 18 C (64 F) today, while other weather services say it will only get to 46 F. The weather channel prognosticates that the high will be 55 degrees Fahrenheit. Either way, it’s freezing to me.

We went to the zoo with the Cottrill family yesterday. They are missionaries studying Spanish in Cuernavaca, and they have two kids that are both older than Nathan.
This was the first time I had ever met someone in person that I met online. It was cool to finally put the real people together with the things we had read about them on their blog. We had a great time. I’m working on a video from our trip, but in the meantime, you can check out the Flickr photos set.
Last night, Cole and I went to the Metropolitan Theater downtown for the Premios Arpa. They are music awards for Christian musicians in Spanish.
We arrived quickly, with little traffic, and we had planned to valet park at the event. But the road that the theater is on was blocked off for a parade, so we had to improvise and park in a public parking lot a block and a half away.
The awards show was much better than I had expected, despite the fact that it started a half an hour late (I’ll never get used to that). We had second row seats, and all the people who were receiving awards were sitting a row or two behind us.
I had a great time with Cole. He’s graduating this year and going away to college. I’ll miss him.
