Well, I’m sitting in the Tampa Airport, waiting for my flight to Houston. From there, it’s on to Mexico City. I’m leading a group of people from First Baptist Church, Naples, on a mission trip to Mexico. It’s an 11 day trip, so I’ll try to keep you posted. Unfortunately, Janell and Nathan couldn’t come with me on this trip, so I’m all alone for the time. It was hard to rip myself away from them this morning as I left. I already miss them.
Update on Life: I got back my final grade from my Jonathan Edwards class. I got a B+. I am so happy to have received a decent grade on what was probably the hardest class I’ve ever taken. Janell was a great support during the class, letting me have time off to work on the projects and papers.
July 5-15, I will be in Mexico with a group of volunteers from First Baptist Church, Naples. They will be helping with Vacation Bible School at our church Dios Es Amor. They will also be helping with a “youth week” and doing some service projects and street evangelism. I am hoping to have this group encourage the youth ministry at our church. I hope that the youth pastor will be an encouragement to the youth ministry students who are serving at the church, also. It is going to kill me to be away from Janell and Nathan for 11 days. It is going to be difficult for Janell, too, as she will have to feed Nathan all throughout the nights.
Today, I officially turned in the last of the work for my Theology of Jonathan Edwards class I was taking for my Master’s degree. They extended my deadline because Nathan came early, and I finally finished the extreme amount of work that I had with this class. I can honestly say it was the hardest class I’ve ever taken, especially with all of the other stuff that has been going on in my life lately. I’m so relieved to be done with it! We’re going to go out and celebrate tonight.
Last night, I went to Grace Christian School’s new gym to play basketball. I graduated from Grace, and while I was in high school played basketball. That was more than 10 years ago now, so I’m a little rusty. Today I’m sore. I’m not really that old! It was good to see some old friends and finally play in the school’s gym.
Okay…so it’s been forever since I’ve updated this page. We’ve been extremely busy. I feel like I’ve got to write something here about the last few weeks. First, the conference in Mazatlan went awesome. Here’s a video of it on the vlog. Then the group from Indiana came and helped us with a Bible school for the kids of Atizapan. That went well, too. We had about 50 kids per day come to MCCA to sing, learn, and play. I’ll post a video about that, too, when I get some high speed internet. We arrived in Florida last Monday. We are spending time with family and connecting with friends. Janell’s grandma Graham passed away this week, so we are spending a lot of time with the family. Please pray for us. It’s been a crazy few weeks.
Today I realized how little time we have before we go back to the US for our 4 month assignment there. I have to finish grading for MJ 130, finish teaching MJ 140, prepare for the leadership workshop I’m giving in Mazatlan this weekend, help plan the summer schedule for the youth ministry at church, lead a group/Backyard Bible club next week, and pack, among other things. It’s going to be a crazy week and a half. We leave Mexico on March 28, the day after Easter. We’ll be there until the end of July. It’s going to be strange, but we’re really looking forward to seeing our friends and family. Of course, we’re looking forward to the arrival of Baby Poulette, too!
