Saturday evening, at our church, we are having a party at our church to watch the Mexican national soccer team play against the USA national team. The winner of the game gets into the World Cup tournament that will take place in Germany next year. Both teams will probably get in to the tournament, so it’s not that important, but it is important for bragging rights. It should be fun to watch on the big screen. You can tell by the picture who I want to win.
Today, I was in the bathroom, and I saw the biggest bug I’ve ever seen. It was disgusting. So, Janell handed me some spray to kill it with. I took a picture of the crime scene. It was disgusting. I have never seen a bug so gross. Most of you already know how much of a girly man I am when it comes to bugs, so this one about made me crazy. Well…we killed it. Hopefully, we don’t see any more like that one again.
We’ve been painting the house lately. We went to The Home Depot and bought paint for our bedroom and for Nathan’s nursery. We found a Classic Winnie the Pooh border for his room and spent the afternoon yesterday and today painting. Tomorrow, we will be moving most of our stuff into the house. It will be good to finally get into our own place. We’ll put up pictures when we get finished with the nursery.
After a long day yesterday, we arrived safely in Mexico. Nathan did really well on the plane, even though we were stuck for 4 and a half hours on the plane from Houston to Mexico City. We were in the plane on the runway in Houston for a long time, and as we began taxiing, we were notified that we would be at least 8th in line just to get to the runway. We then waited and waited. The pilot then took a turn back towards the gate because we had wasted so much fuel that we needed to refuel before we could take off. Then we had to wait for the fuel truck. The whole time there was no air conditioning on the plane. So, we were a group of sweaty, hot, upset passengers, all trying to get along because we were stuck on the plane for at least another 2 hours. Finally, we got fuel and took off. We landed in Mexico City 4 hours and 30 minutes after we boarded the plane. It also turned out that Continental broke some things on our stroller/carseat. Oh the joys of travelling! We are happy to be back in Mexico and off the airplane.
We’re getting ready to move back to Mexico on Wednesday. It has been a great summer with our family and friends in Florida, but we’re ready to get back to our own (new) place and the work that is definitely waiting us there. When I was in Mexico last week, I left my laptop there to make the trip back a little lighter. That’s why there has been a serious lack of posts lately. Sorry. I’m sure it will be better when we get back into the routine of things.
FBC Naples Mission Trip Day 1: Today we had a good day at church. The group helped out with Vacation Bible School for about 100 kids. We also met up with Israel to talk about what we’re going to do the rest of the time while we are here. I called the bus driver, and we are set with the bus for the rest of the time we would need it. We went to Walmart, Burger King, and the market. We also spent some time at the mission office and also the seminary. Whew! Sounds like we were busy. We wrapped up the day at the movie theater watching War of the Worlds.
