Today was the first day I actually walked to my office at the seminary from my house. There’s a house in our neighborhood that connects to the seminary. Since it belongs to the seminary and is empty, it makes sense for me to walk 5 minutes to the office instead of driving my car and waste gas (I’m getting so green, just like Al Gore). It also takes away the temptation of yelling at other drivers on the way to work.
I could always get a segway. That off road one would be great here in Mexico. Do you think that could pass as a ministry expense? Doubt it. I guess I’ll just stick to walking. It’s better for me, anyway. Anyway, my office is coming along. Pictures will be here when I’m done putting everything where it belongs.
Here are my three priorities for today:
- Finish notes for Discipleship class
- Finish reading “Ministry of Nurture.”
- Get my office moved (or at least packed to move)
UPDATE: Went to the seminary, and they’re not done painting my new office, so that will have to wait.
I’ll let you know how I do on them later.
UPDATE: While at the seminary, I did get back 241 surveys that we did in Puebla a few weeks ago. Now, I get to analyze all the data. Anyone know of a good (cheap) program for statistical research/data analyzing?
UPDATE #2: I finished my notes and my book today! Yeah! Now, I’m off to find some software that will help me analyze the results of the surveys.
I was playing around yesterday at Cafepress.com, and I made this design for Mexico City T-shirts. So, if anyone out there wants to buy one, you can go to my cafepress store and order one. Yeah! We’re back online. It was more than 24 hours, but a technician from the phone company came out today and fixed our internet access. It was a problem with the box that comes out of the wall (you know, where you connect the phone line). You can now expect again more recent posts. Yippy.
It’s rainy outside here today. I’m sitting at Starbucks, sipping a grande coffee of the day and looking out the huge window into the cloudy, rainy sky. We’ve been without internet at the house now for 3 and a half days. It really stinks (but I like coming to Starbucks). So, I’m here this morning, and I thought I’d write a little here. Oh, since the internet is out, so is our Box phone, so no local calls to the US this week for us.
There are a lot of things happening in the next few weeks. I’m moving offices at the seminary, which means that I’ll be out of the closet sized office that I have now. I’m getting an office that, to me, seems to be enormous. Orientation week is in a few weeks. Class starts the 22nd. Anyway, that’s the update.
All of the IMB missionaries are out of town this week for a meeting in Leon, Mexico. This means that we’re not only stuck without our friends, we also have been asked to do some favors. The biggest one is taking care of our friends’ zoo pets. They have a dog, a cat, two birds, a hamster, fish, and an iguana. That’s seven pets. I think that might be illegal in some states. Anyway, we get to go to their house, water their jungle garden, and take care of their animals this week. So, if you don’t hear from us in a few days, it’s because the dog ate us.
