We bought some good ice cream from Costco, and last night the boys were munching down on it. I decided to take the time to ask Nathan about what kind of ice cream and cake he likes. He was quite talkative. Then Benjamin decided to show us how he likes to eat an ice cream cone.
I have been thinking about a lot of things today, and these things have made me come to one great conclusion: I am so grateful for my students at the Seminary.
At our Seminary, we talk about the fact that the students aren’t “pastors in training;” they are pastors. Understanding this helps me so much whenever situations happen and we need to evaluate them, ask for prayer, and basically look for someone to listen.
I am privileged to have my students and the people at the Seminary. It makes days like today a little easier.
I’ve been busy getting ready for our first ever National Youth Ministry Conference. It will be held November 27-28, 2009, at the Mexican Baptist Theological Seminary.
The event is going to be huge. We have invited more than 12 speakers, there are at least 3 bands coming, and we’re hoping to have an attendance of at least 350.
The theme is “High Voltage,” talking about the power of God for our ministries. I’m hoping it will allow us to both train some youth workers and connect with them.
This event is taking up a lot of our energy. We also start classes this week. It’s a crazy time! But, as always, it’s great!

For those of you who don’t think that God cares about the little things in your life, I have a great story for you.
Today Nathan went to “school” for the first time. It’s really sort of like a summer camp for three weeks. I was nervous about how he would do, since he usually doesn’t really act all that great around people who speak Spanish. I seriously spent a lot of time praying for his experience and attitude. I pray for him all the time, but this was different. I specifically spent some concentrated time in prayer for him today.
When we were getting ready, he didn’t want to go. He took his shoes and socks off after we put them on him, but we got him into the car and drove to the school, trying to convince him that it would be great. We got there and the lady showed him the classroom and all the kids, leading him back without any problem.
I’ll never forget his face when I showed up to pick him up. The smile he had proved to me that God cares for even the “little things” in our lives.
It turns out that Nathan had a great time. He loved it and is excited to go tomorrow. Thank you, God, for answering the prayers of this worried father. What an incredible proof of His faithfulness and love for us.

I’ve been playing around with posterous.com, a site that allows you to easily post pretty much everything and then decide where it goes from there. So far, I like it a lot.
After you set it up, all you do is send an email to posterous.com, and using different addresses, you tell it where it should post to besides your posterous account. Everything you post goes to your posterous stream, too.
I like it because I can post pictures and video to different places just by attaching them to an email and sending it off. Usually within a minute it is posted to both my posterous account and my flickr account. If I want, I can also post it to my facebook or twitter accounts. I’ve given my posterous account the name: Life and Other Things…Everything I can think about right now, because that is exactly how I use it. It’s a way to share experiences and what I’m thinking.
It’s just simply an easy way to get content out there. I’m excited about the possibilities. I can even post to this blog by sending an email to posterous. How cool is that?
