Our kids love to draw on the sidewalk (and everywhere else) with chalk. The great news is that we have an entire basketball court right outside our back yard where they can draw. Nathan can spend hours out there drawing, and he usually comes in covered from head to toe in blue, white, or yellow chalk.

Yesterday we were playing outside and I was talking with them about what Easter is all about. I was trying to get Nathan to tell me the story. While talking, I sat down to draw with him, and he began to draw something on the sidewalk. He was really proud of what it was. After I saw what he drew I wanted to take a picture of it. Check it out.

I spend a lot of time in Seminary, in conferences, and in seminars talking about what is the gospel. We get into debates about whether we always share the whole gospel and where to start sharing the gospel with others. Those are important conversations.

Nathan’s gets the gospel, even if he doesn’t know it as “the gospel”. His drawing is what Easter is all about. Jesus living perfectly. Jesus dying for us. Jesus buried in a garden tomb. Jesus victoriously raising from the dead. I love it when my kids remind me of the Truth.

Have a great weekend.

Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you— unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. – 1 Corinthians 15:1-5
