When I was a kid, we used to sing, “Oh be careful little hands what you do; oh be careful, little hands what you do. For the Father up above is looking down with love; oh be careful little hands what you do.”
That song was to remind us that God is always watching what we do, but yesterday, I noticed something that reminded me of the song.
Nathan was sitting on the couch playing on the computer. His little brother watched him playing the computer, went into his bedroom, and got out the toy computer that they have so he could play on it, too. He copied everything Nathan did, using the computer to do “work.”
I spotted a teachable moment, so I stopped Nathan and asked him if he realized that Benjamin wants to be just like him and that he should be careful about how he acts because his little brother is constantly observing him and copying him. I think he understood.
It reminded me, too, of this song that is my prayer:
