Last Friday, I wrote an email to our prayer partners to ask that they pray for the youth ministry students as they go to a public middle school to minister. Unfortunately, that event was postponed. We didn’t go on Friday. That’s why you haven’t heard anything about it.
However, today, we will be going to the school (at 3 pm our time). If you pray, please pray for us as we minister to these middle school students, beginning what I hope will be a great relationship with them and the school administration.
November 9, 10, and 11, all over Mexico, the church will be participating in a project called “Mi Esperanza” or “My Hope”. This is an enormous opportunity for the church to share the gospel with friends, relatives, neighbors, etc., in their homes.
We have been trying to figure out what we will be doing to participate in this, but there are already 19,000 evangelical pastors signed up to get on board with this. I think the first two nights will be the crusades, with music and preaching, and the third night is a movie produced by the Billy Graham Association. Please begin to pray now for this great opportunity here in Mexico.
I just got an email from a student of mine in Cuba, telling me that one of the other students, Miguel, was in a serious car accident and is in the hospital. He and his family were in a taxi, coming from the doctor, when another car had a blowout and hit them. His 6 year old son lost his arm in the accident, and Miguel also is in danger of losing his arm. Please pray for this family. Thank you.
I just got a call from my boss telling me that the trip to Austria has been postponed this year due to illness in the family. We didn’t cancel it, but it has been postponed until further notice. So, the money we have in the account will be saved in a special account and will be used in the future for the summit. Please be praying for Randy and his wife as they go through a difficult time in the coming months.
Okay, so we are almost packed for our trip to Veracruz. We will be leaving early tomorrow morning to try to get out of the city before most people wake up. We’ll see how well we do with that. We’ll be out of town for about a week, so there will be little updating on the site. I don’t know how much internet access there will be where we are going (nor how much I really want).
Tuesday, I’ll be giving a conference and promoting the seminary to about 350 young people at a congress for the south of the country. Huberto and Oscar will be there, too, giving their own workshops. Please pray for us and them as we share about how youth ministry revolves around relationships.
I got a phone call this morning from Salomon, the president of the Baptist Student Union here in Mexico. He’s the guy I’ve been working with on the workshops. He told me that Huberto and Oscar could get a 50% discount on a bus ticket with their student IDs. Then, he told me that he had enough money from somewhere to pay for one of their trips. That left us with only a $50 need, which is a lot more manageable than a $200 need. That’s cool how God provides! Anyway, just thought I’d let you know about that.
