Here are some photos I took last week during my trip to Mexico City. Thanks to everyone who was praying for this trip. It couldn’t have gone much better than it did. We saw God open many doors, giving us many incredible contacts with people. There is an excitement in the air for the new program to train youth workers at the seminary, and God is doing some great things in Mexico.

VISA INFO: Good news! Janell’s birth certificate arrived! Of course, it came in the mail the same day that I left, so we didn’t get to deliver it with the rest of our paperwork. I did have the opportuity to meet Toni, the lady who is helping us with the visa. She said we should be able to get our visas by the time we leave on August 27. Please pray that we will get them by then.
OLD FRIENDS AND NEW FRIENDS: One of the best parts of Mexico is the people. Every time I go, I enjoy the relationships that I make. I had a great opportunity to spend some time with our old friends Carlos, Sonia, Xavier, and Josue. Of course, I also made some new friends, especially with many of the International Mission Board missionaries. They have gone out of their way to help us, and it is encouraging to know we have some American people in Mexico City who are willing to help us. It is also a great opportunity for us to learn from veteran missionaries.
Yard sale: Tomorrow morning we will be having a yard sale at Janell’s mom’s house to get rid of some of the stuff we still have. Thank God this will be the last one before we move. We don’t have a lot of stuff, but combined with Janell’s family, there should be enough to attract some customers. Let’s hope it’s cooler than the 93 degrees it was today. So, the stuff I have to do before I go to Mexico on Monday is…Pack, yard sale, work on research paper, get ready for Sunday School (and teach), finish folding and printing brochures for the trip, and arrange for someone to pick us up from the airport in Mexico. I probably ought to get busy, huh?
A new week: It’s a new week now. I made it back to Florida on Saturday. I had an incredible time in South Carolina, and I learned so many things about God’s church as it has progressed through history. I’m already boring Janell with it. But, it’s a new week now with new challenges, especially if we are to move to Mexico in a few months. There are a lot of details we are working on this week, and possibly another trip to Mexico City for me in the next few weeks. God only knows what’s going to happen with us, so please continue to pray for us. Here are some things that you can pray for this week:
- For Dennis and the rest of his classwork (a 10-12 page paper and about 250 pages of reading)
- For our visas (we are having some paperwork problems)
- Continued financial and prayer support.
- The annual Baptist convention in Mexico City coming in July. (The official announcement of the Center for Youth Ministry)
- Wisdom and strength as we continue planning.
Class is over: Today was the last day of Church History class! I’ve been through the first 1500 years of the church in 5 days, and boy am I exhausted. Thanks to everyone who has been praying for us so far this week. We really appreciate it. Now, please pray for me as I drive home to Florida tomorrow. It should take about 9 hours. I also have a research paper to write now, but I’ve got some time. Thanks again for your continued prayer support.
