Today, our home office notified us that we have $946 in our account for the trip to Austria this summer. That was a HUGE surprise. Thanks to whomever it is that has donated. Before today, we had only heard from one person who wanted to help us attend this important strategy meeting.
Speaking of finances, I’m praying for God to provide this weekend for Oscar and Huberto to be able to attend the leadership workshop in Villahermosa this coming week. They are supposed to be presenting, and the bus fare there and back is going to be around $200 total for both of them. If you want to help with this need, leave a comment, and I’ll get back to you about it. Thanks.
Okay, so it’s always like this before you go out of town, but I’m feeling more and more of it this time. We’re going to Veracruz on Sunday, but I have a TON of things left to do before we go. It’s supposed to be a “working vacation”, but I can only see the WORK part of it right now. Combining the two makes it seem like there are even more things to do. And I’m here writing about it in the blog instead of actually doing the stuff I need to do for it. For some reason, writing about it makes me feel better.
Today is a catch-up day. I’m working from my office at the house, which means I’m just outside of Nathan’s room. The things I’m working on: Info on the Leadership Workshops (the first one is April 11), follow up stuff from the group (finances/reports), class for tomorrow, and taking Nathan to the doctor.
So, the week with Above and Beyond is over. They left this afternoon, after a great goodbye party with the church. It was a great week, and we’re glad they came. We’re pretty tired, now, though. It’s time to rest.
Oops, I forgot to post last night about yesterday. It was a great day. We went to the University of the Valley of Mexico and presented to about 300 students. The team broke out the slam dunks again, and we had the chance to share a lot with the students.
In the afternoon, we went to Instituto Kipling, where we had a 20 minute presentation to about another 200 students. It went well, and the rain held off until after we were finished.
In the evening, all of the group and students from the church came to our house, where we had hot dogs and watched the videos from the week.
Today, Ken spoke in my class, and he explained what ministry teams are and what they do. It was a great time of dialogue with the students, and then they had the opportunity to see it in action tonight at the church.
We went to the Politechnical University, but it turns out that they didn’t do anything about the permission we asked for, so we couldn’t get into the place. We made arrangements to go back on Friday, so all wasn’t lost. We ate some good tacos, and the group did another ministry at the church.
They broke out some new basketball stunts/dunks, which was cool. We also all got into it and tried dunking off the mini-tramp. I had so much fun I want to start a dunk team myself. No…really. I do. We’ll see. Who knows what the future holds.
