An Incredible Opportunity

We need your help!!! We’ve entered a competition that will help our ministry with some extra finances in return for working 4 hours a week.

There is a website called Hopscout that offers one children’s item for sale per day, and they are looking for some editors to review their products and write for them.

They will pay us to review products, give us a new computer, help with our kids’ college fund, and give us money for groceries. That’s a lot of help, which means your participation is crucial.

The first round of the competition was to make a video and ask people to vote for it. So, we made a video. It is posted here: http://bit.ly/e15b50.

We need your vote as soon as possible!. You can only vote once. We need a ton of votes to get to the next round, so please tell everyone you know about it. It would be a huge help for our family and ministry.

Star Wars as Mexican Skeleton figures

Jose Pulido depicts all sorts of things using traditional Mexican “calaveras”. His Etsy store has a huge variety of his artwork. Here are a few that represent Star Wars. Since this weekend is the celebration of the Day of the Dead, I thought it would be appropriate to share with you.

Nathan’s First Big League Game

Nathan’s First Big League Game

Furlough, or “home assignment” is a time for a missionary family to get to do some things that they don’t necessarily get to do while on the mission field. Yesterday was one of those days.

We’ve been Tampa Bay Rays fans since they came into the Major Leagues, and this year, they are playing really well. So I decided to take Nathan to his first baseball game yesterday. We got some cheap tickets on StubHub and took off for the day.

Our tickets were 2 rows behind the wall in left-center field, and every Sunday at Tropicana Field, they have Family Fun Days, with all sorts of fun things for families with kids to do. They also happened to be giving out Super Hero Capes (which is why Nathan wanted to go, I think).

So, we ate peanuts, got a foot long hot dog, ate some Carvel ice cream, and watched baseball. It was fun to hang out with my big guy all day.

Surprise Birthday Party

My students (and Janell) pulled off a great surprise birthday party yesterday after class. I almost blew it because I wouldn’t leave the classroom so they could set it up. I had some emails and things to take care of, so I stayed behind because my office is really hot in the afternoons.

Well, they eventually got me to leave, set up the room, and then surprised me with an AWESOME video they made for me, complete with a song they wrote and performed. I don’t have a copy of the video yet, but when I do get one, I’ll definitely post it here.

Here’s some video of me taking a bite out of the cake.
