Guanajuato youth camp (25)I got back last night from a youth camp in Silao, Guanajuato, about 5 hours north of Mexico City. I went with Huberto, and we had a good time, even though there were a lot of things that frustrated us about the organization of the camp.

I think Huberto is learning a lot about what not to do in youth ministry, based on our conversations on the way home from camp. The good thing is that he is noticing the things that go wrong. Let’s just say we were frustrated more than once this weekend. I don’t want to be overly critical, but the organization of the camp was horrendous. We made the most out of it, though, and I think it was a learning experience for both of us.

We came back with the thought of putting on our own camp and training others how to do it. It would be a great opportunity for us, and I think it would help many youth ministries in Mexico. We’ll see. It’s just one more thing to add to the long list of things to do.
