Mexico City once again: We are spending the week in Mexico City again, still looking for a place to live here for 5 months. We are sure we will come up with something. Yesterday we visited a church we always go to in Mexico City, and we got lost on the way back to where we are staying. Instead of 30 minutes, we took the hour and 40 minute route. Quite interesting! We managed to make it back, though. We are sure that is not the last time we will be lost!

Almost time: It’s almost time to move again. We have so much to do before the beginning of classes in August at the seminary. We are looking forward to beginning the Center for Youth Ministry at the Mexican Baptist Theological Seminary. Students will be able to get a degree in youth ministry, and we are really excited about what God is going to do with the program. All we need are students. Please pray that God will bring the students as we begin to promote the program through various methods. Please pray for wisdom for us as we plan the promotion and begin the process. Please pray for us, also, as we finish up our formal Spanish school in the next 3 weeks.
Web alert: YMI, our mission organization, has a new website. It is located at www.ymionline.com. You can learn a lot about the organization there. Also…notice on our website that you can now download the January 2004 newsletter in a PDF file if you would like to read it. It will be in the mail soon, but we will give a sneak preview to the website readers.
Mexico City: You should have seen the mountains today. We were driving into Mexico City this morning and had the chance to see the 2 volcanos covered with snow. They were like a picture out of a wall calendar. It was awesome. The beauty quickly faded as we arrived in the city and were informed that the only road we actually know to take to get us to our destination is being worked on. After an hour of a detour, we finally ended up where we needed to be. Thank God!
We’re Members!
Sorry for the brief lack of communication. Lots has been going on here. We’re back into a routine, so hopefully we’ll be able to write here more often. Can’t believe it’s been a whole month since we last wrote. We sent an email update (click here to sign up) about what’s been going on, so you should be getting that soon. Today, we became members of Sam’s Club. Janell had a hunch that the Sam’s is just down the street, so we ventured off in the rain (it was sprinkling) to find it. We mustered up enough Spanish and 350 pesos to purchase a membership, but we didn’t buy anything. We also went to a place called Waldo’s Mart where everything is 11 pesos (about a dollar). It’s amazing how excited we get just to find grape jelly on the shelf. The downside to today is the rain. We washed our clothes before it rained and hung them out to dry. Guess what…they didn’t. Since it only rained a little, they are only a little damp, so hopefully they will be dry in the morning.
