We went with some of the young people of the church today to a mission church in Tula. We led the entire service. I preached. We at tacos. Then, we visited the ruins that are there.
On the way, a lady hit us while we were driving. I stopped at a speed bump. She didn’t see me, and she hit us. I got out to check it out, and everything was fine. there wasn’t even a scratch on the car, even though she hit us pretty hard (squealing tires, loud bang, and everything).
Then, we had 14 young people at our youth meeting tonight. We are planning a Christmas party for the 11th of December. They are really excited about it. Overall, it was a very good day. I’m exhausted, though.
I just arrived home from the church today. We had a meeting with the deacons to talk about the church supporting Rigo, the seminary student who is working with the youth with me. They seemed to be open to it, but like always here, there is a serious lack of funds in the church.
Afterwards, we had a meeting with the young people because tomorrow we’re going to a mission church in Tula. This church is a “mission” of our church, and the youth from our church are going to lead the service. I am going to preach. The pastor from the mission told me that our church hasn’t visited them in over a year. Unfortunately, only 4 or 5 of us are going to go tomorrow. Rigo is going to lead the songs, and I am going to preach. It should be interesting.
I told Janell the other day that I am going to preach about Christ. I told her I have missed Him lately. I have been preaching and teaching a lot about people from the Old Testament. However, tomorrow, I am going to preach on Colossians 1. The relationships of Jesus. He is the Creator, Sustainer, Head of the church, and the Redeemer. I pray that God uses me to share the truth of who Jesus is.
One dead, two injured in Tennessee school shooting
These kinds of things are always sad. I hate seeing these stories. It reminds me of the world we live in and how much we all need a Savior. We all need to be loved. What a tragic story. Unfortunately, many of us have become numb to the stories like this. They fly by in the news, but they need to be personal. Each one of us knows someone we need to reach out to and love. Who could be the Kenneth Bartley in my life? I need to search for him. I need to do my part to prevent this from happening. The unfortunate thing is that the people who probably did love him are the one who were shot.
Today was Janell’s birthday. It was also the first day we left Nathan with babysitters. Our friends the Waechters watched him this afternoon so we could go to the movies. So we went down to Mundo E mall to watch Elizabethtown. We weren’t real thrilled with the movie. It was long and not very good. Later, we left Nathan with the Torberts so we could go to the other mall and eat at Macaroni Grill. It was good.
Nathan was a little talkative tonight, so we used the Packet8 phone to call up audioblogger.com so we could post some audio clips of him for your listening pleasure. Just click below to hear him.
Oh…there’s a new video of him over on the vlog, too.
