This day in History

Nine years ago today, we got married. It’s been the most amazing 9 years of my life. Janell, I love you. Happy anniversary. Weren’t we cute?

Although, we wouldn’t make this for the reasons the author would make it, maybe Pepto-Bismol ice cream isn’t such a bad idea for those who are going to visit Mexico.
Every time a group comes for a short-term trip here to Mexico, someone gets sick. Some people say it’s Moctezuma’s revenge; I usually say it’s because they’re dehydrated. Anyway, maybe we should whip up some of this stuff next time a group is coming. Yummy!
Dr. Richard Lewis, a former teacher of ours while we were at the Center for Intercultural Training, has just finished a series of interesting articles on missiology over at his blog.
His comments on the subject of three different types of missions involvement are enough to make you think. Dr. Lewis rarely speaks without ruffling someone’s feathers, because he sees his role as someone to cause more questions than give answers. He wants dialogue, and he wants to make you think. So, go check out his series on types of missions. It might help you understand a little more. It might also confuse you. But it will definitely make you think.
The titles are:
All of the IMB missionaries are out of town this week for a meeting in Leon, Mexico. This means that we’re not only stuck without our friends, we also have been asked to do some favors. The biggest one is taking care of our friends’ zoo pets. They have a dog, a cat, two birds, a hamster, fish, and an iguana. That’s seven pets. I think that might be illegal in some states. Anyway, we get to go to their house, water their jungle garden, and take care of their animals this week. So, if you don’t hear from us in a few days, it’s because the dog ate us.
While most of the US is enduring a heat wave, Mexico City has begun to have some cold weather. Right now, it’s noon, and it’s 63 out. It’s rained the last few days, which has helped bring in some cold weather. The high today is supposed to be 68.
