I saw this video posted on Facebook, and I wanted to comment on it here. It’s about a Latin teacher who has cancer. He’s sitting at his window, and outside are 400 students worshipping God and singing a song with him. Watch the video below:

I’m sure there is a lot to this story, but it is obvious that there is an adult–a teacher–who is loved by young people and being honored by them because of the influence he has had on their lives. There is no doubt many other former students who would have been there if they could.

This teacher is an example of the fact that adults have an enormous influence on young people. Often, when I am teaching youth ministry in different contexts, my students are surprised to learn that we encourage adults to enter the lives of young people in youth ministry. It is, in fact, one of the greatest things that adults can do–invest in the lives of young people.

It appears that this teacher understood that his job was more than to just teach Latin to these students. His job was something much, much bigger.

May God raise up many more adults–teachers, coaches, youth workers, and pastors–so that the next generation will set their hope in God, not forget His works, but keep His commandments (Psalm 78:7).
