I downloaded this song for free from iTunes, and the first time I heard it, I was in an airplane going to Cuba to teach the last intensive course of a three year program. It absolutely touched a chord with where I am in my life. Listen to the lyrics. Right now, it’s my prayer.
Recently, the St. Petersburg Times ran an article on D&D Missionary Homes, a great ministry in St. Pete that provides housing, clothing, and other things to missionaries who are visiting the United States again.
D&D exists to “serve the servants” and operates on donations from individuals and churches in order to do so. They have furnished houses, a place for missionaries to shop for clothes (for free), and basically provide a home away from home for those who minister overseas.
Unfortunately, although they provided a phone number, the St. Pete Times didn’t link to the D&D missionary homes website in their article, so here is the link to D&D missionary homes. Be sure to check them out and donate if you want to support their ministry.

Why Can’t You Do Missions At Home?
DO’s and DON’Ts for Missions
Hopefully, I’ll be posting more often over there soon. I hope to post regular youth ministry thoughts and ideas very soon.
Last night at youth group, there were two things I think were really great.
The first one was that they recognized the youth group soccer team for winning a championship, but every single player who spoke talked about the fact that winning or losing wasn’t the goal of the team. The team exists to share a Christian testimony to the other teams they play against. They all are in a discipleship group, and they have had to work on their attitudes and actions on the field in order to maintain a good testimony in front of others.
The second great thing at youth group meeting tonight was a girl named Valerie who wants to study cinematography. She had a school assignment, and her teacher told her to make a short film. She made a great little short, and they screened it at youth group last night. A lot of the students in the group were in her film, which is very evangelistic. She’s showing it in school on Wednesday morning.
Both of these things stand out to me because they are examples of students using talents in ministry. There are so many ways to be useful for the Kingdom. Youth ministries need to provide opportunities for students to minister, using whatever means necessary.

Sometimes people talk about how much we blog.
I do it because I like to write and create. When I was a kid, I would draw. Now, I make things online, either through video or writing.
But it shouldn’t stop there. I think ministers and missionaries should definitely blog. Here are my reasons:
BONUS: Hone your writing skills. Good writers write. Writing is probably a part of your ministry. You can use your blog to get better at writing.
