This is the international version of How Great is our God that they sang at Passion this year. It is an incredible rendition and reminds me that our God is greater than any one culture. He is above all.
Saturday we had our first Youth Ministry Forum at the Seminary. It was a first for many things.
I think it was the first time the format was used for a youth ministry event (at least at our Seminary). We tried to make it very interactive and participatory.
We also transmitted live on the Internet (using Ustream), including the members of the chat in the discussion. We had about as many people participating via the internet as we had in the auditorium.
There were people from Juarez, Oaxaca, Monterrey and all over Mexico watching what was happening. I never heard if there was anyone from any other countries watching the forum. But overall, it was a good discussion.
One of our students in the certificate in youth ministry course that we offer on Saturdays lives in Aguscalientes, Mexico. Where’s that?
Aguascalientes is a city located about 500 kilometers away from our Seminary. The trip is 300 miles one way! That most likely means a pretty long (almost 6 hour) bus ride. But this student gladly travels round trip every Saturday to take the four hour class and improve his ministry to the young people of his church and community. Huberto told me that he even makes it to class on time.
There are many youth workers all over Mexico seeking out training and help for their youth ministries. In the coming years we would like to offer more training to different parts of Mexico (and other countries in Latin America).
Please pray that God will lead us to the right places to expand training. Please pray, also, that He would increase our ministry budget as we provide needed training to youth workers in Latin America. We are currently seeking to increase the ministry budget we have. If you would like to help, we’d love to have you on our partnership team.
I saw this video on Andy Moore’s blog about different challenges in Student Ministry. It has some interesting information in it. It’s interesting to see the challenges for working with students throughout the world.
From July 23 to 31, Dennis will be traveling to the Youth Ministry International Summit in France. The YMI Summit takes place every other year in a different region of the world where YMI has a ministry. Our entire worldwide team meets to report on what God is doing in each region as well as talk about strategy for effective ministry.
We’d like to ask you to pray specifically for this trip. Pray that all of us involved with Youth Ministry International’s work of training youth workers across the world will be encouraged, and that we will have a good planning and strategizing time while together. Pray that the ministry will be more fruitful in the future because we have come together as a team to pray and share with each other.
