Since Nathan is going to turn one year old on Tuesday, we decided to invite some friends over for a birthday party today. There were decorations, balloons, party hats, hot dogs, presents, and cake and ice cream. Tina made a cake for everyone else and then a special one just for Nathan. After we sang happy birthday to him, he decided that he wouldn’t blow out the candle the normal way. He put it out with his hand. Everyone was shocked, but he wasn’t burnt. The candle went out fast. I think he was a little scared from all the people’s horrified faces.

It took Nathan a little while to understand what the special cake for him was all about, but as you can see from the picture, he eventually understood that he could just dig right in to it. He was a chocolate mess by the end. He was trying to share it with everyone. He also had a lot of ice cream.

I can’t believe it’s been a year since Nathan was born. It has gone by really fast. He is such a blessing. Everyday, he does something new and teaches me something. I’m so proud to be his daddy. I can’t wait to see what this next year brings to us.
